A cased Tranter sheath trigger revolver in the petite calibre of .230 rimfire retailed by Melbournian dealer, James W. Rosier, c. 1867-1870, when Rosier traded from 45 Little Collins Street East.

A delightful addition to this item is the inscription in ink on the case lid's inside edge with the item's original price, £4.10.0.

Already by this date, Rosier had secured the patronage of the Victorian Rifle Association, from whom he had been appointed gunsmith, and would continue to support the Association through his attendance at competitions and providing trophies, sometimes in the form of firearms, as prizes.
