Beaded African Doll - Mother and Child

Look at this magnificent Ndebele woman from South Africa. Strong in posture, gaze, poise and rock steady, power and sentient enough to watch over my front door. Bless. And she has a baby! Look under her cloak and on her back there is strapped an infant, alert I think but quiet.
Different dolls represent stages of a girls life, pre-marriage, wed, mother, initiated etc, told by the style of beading and clothes. Symbolic and powerful, more talisman than toy.
