Vintage fabric

I have a few bits of vintage fabric yardage. This one, I'm not sure about - it's a wax print which might mean it's not as old as I think it is - it could be African. Interestingly too it has been railroaded - that is, the pattern runs from selvedge to selvedge rather than parallel to the fabric length. This is usually done for upholstry fabric but this is a medium-weight cotton. I suspect this adds cred to the African theory since it makes sense for wrapping-style garments. Still, I'm calling this vintage because the design looks so 1950s to me.

When I can finally bear to cut into it, I plan to make a cocktail frock (geddit).
