I am a museum person. But the collection I am planning to catalogue was inherited from my father and belonged to his family in Hamburg, Germany. My Paternal family were typical of the jewish middle class- well assimilated into German society, but very conscious of their "mosaic faith". My grandparents, a great grandmother, uncle and aunt and my father, we're extremely lucky to be able to escape Nazi Germany already after my grandfather had been imprisoned. They arrived in Australia in January 1939. As they were very wealthy in Hamburg they could bring a lot of furniture and household goods with them as well as important family memorabilia. This is what I plan to document on behalf of the whole family.
